A very wide selection of music and chat is available on Ridgeway Radio, from the latest pop to jazz and classical. Our programming also has a strong local flavour, keeping patients in touch with the nice things happening outside hospital. From 8pm to 8.30pm every night we play requests and dedications for our listeners. If you have a friend or relative in Dorset County Hospital who might like to listen to a particular song or type of music, you can request a track to be played and send a message here.
Ridgeway Radio's location teams cover local events such as the Dorchester and Weymouth Carnivals, the Dorchester Rotary Family Picnic Day (formerly the Teddy Bear's Picnic), Dorchester Show, Remembrance Sunday Parade and Veterans Weekends to name but a very few.
In the form of Audio Diaries, Ridgeway Radio also covers events from further afield, including visits to London. The station is regularly 'on location' for events such as Trooping the Colour, the Royal Tournament, Chelsea Flower Show and The Lord Mayor's Show. Slightly nearer home, the Bournemouth Air Show has featured recently.
Also many local classical music concerts are recorded by our outside broadcast team. Listen out for Music Locally on a Thursday at 8pm.
Below is our programme guide for listeners in Dorset County Hospital - click on a programme title below for more information. Currently there are some variations in programmes on Ridgeway Online - these variations are shown on the home page. All our members are volunteers and the presenters do their best to get to the studio and present their live programme. Occasionally, due to other commitments, they may be may be unable to do so, but no problem! We have a 24 hour service which means you can be assured of something good to listen to. This includes some programmes from BBC Radio Solent, in particular the weekday breakfast and morning shows. PLEASE NOTE: Our online service, Ridgeway Plus, does not carry BBC Radio Solent programmes which are replaced with alternative programming.
When a live show is on air, listeners are welcome to phone the studio using the handset on the Hospedia bedside console and dialling *800.
