Christmas lights switch-on highlights organ donation

Staff at Dorset County Hospital asked people to think about the gift of organ donation as they switched on their Christmas tree lights.

The hospital’s organ donation team has sponsored a tree to highlight the importance of discussing your wishes around organ donation with your family.

Dr Andrew Ball, Critical Care Consultant and Clinical Lead for Organ Donation, said: “We have sponsored a Christmas tree for the hospital in the South Wing courtyard to encourage everyone to consider their feelings about organ donation at this time of giving.

“People are dying every day whilst waiting for a transplant. To help us help them, we need you to discuss your wishes with your family and friends and to register these. Without this information it is often difficult for relatives to appreciate the choices their loved ones have made.

“Register you choice today – make a choice, make it known.”

The lights for the tree were kindly donated by local firm Knighton Plumbing and Heating.
