Dorset and Somerset law firm Humphries Kirk has donated a new computer to Ridgeway Radio which broadcasts to Dorset County Hospital patients.<\/p>\n
Ridgeway Radio, which started in 1966, is run by volunteers and relies on financial support from private and business contributors. The new computer will be used by the station presenters from the hospital.<\/p>\n
Barry White, marketing consultant at Humphries Kirk and co-presenter of the \u2018North, South, East and West\u2019, programme on Ridgeway Radio, said: \u201cThe station is valued by the patients at Dorset County Hospital and we are delighted to be able to supply them with a brand new computer to help them with their programming. With our varied shows we aim to brighten up a patient\u2019s day with amusing anecdotes and an eclectic selection of music.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to co-presenting \u2018North, South, East and West\u2019, which airs on Tuesday mornings, Barry runs a legal advice slot called \u2018Legal Eagles\u2019 every Wednesday from 12pm to 12.30pm, where patients can expect to hear advice on a range of legal topics.<\/p>\n
Ridgeway Radio requested five new computers to replace ageing studio equipment. Programme presenter and member of the stations\u2019 fundraising team, John Shepherd explained that Dorchester businesses have supported the appeal, he said: \u201cOur task at Ridgeway Radio is to bring the outside world into the hospital and to inform and entertain patients. We\u2019re really grateful for the support of benefactors like Humphries Kirk, enabling us to keep on air 24-hours a day.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe provide a truly local flavour to the radio and TV stations on offer to patients and we still need the funds to continue to do this. We need to replace other items of equipment and would like to hear from any businesses interested in supporting us.\u201d<\/p>\n
